A charming pair of vintage Maitland-Smith monkey form candlesticks featuring seated monkeys supporting tall candle standards with classical urn-form bobeches. Beautifully detailed throughout, each monkey is sculpted with expressive facial features and textured fur, resting atop stepped rectangular plinth bases.
Finished in a rich verdigris patina with bronze-tone undertones, these whimsical candlesticks embody the sophisticated exoticism and playful design for which Maitland-Smith became known. Equally at home in British Colonial, Hollywood Regency, eclectic, or traditional interiors.
Retaining the original Maitland-Smith label indicating they were designed and handmade in Thailand.
