Details
A striking early 20th-century Shiwan ceramic umbrella stand featuring thick turquoise glazing with deep cobalt accents. The hand-applied relief panels depict bamboo and dragonflies—symbols of strength, resilience, and joy—framed against a warm cream backdrop. The reverse displays raised calligraphy conveying an auspicious message of the artist’s deep love of painting and literature.
Sculptural guardian mask handles and authentic kiln drips highlight the artisanal nature of this piece. Areas of patina, glaze variation, and age-appropriate wear enhance the stand’s historic character.
A functional yet statement-making accent as an umbrella stand, sculptural vessel, or floor vase wherever a touch of storied Chinoiserie style is needed.
